Module 5: Meet your Digitization Kit

In this module, you will be introduced to the many parts of your Digitization (DiGI) kit or rack. The DiGI kit is your tool for digitizing or converting audio-cassette tapes to a digital format. A DiGI kit can be requested from the FPCC Language Technology Programs Team for your project. It is yours to use throughout and after your specified project time to continue to grow your inventory.

When requesting your DiGI kit to be delivered to you, please consider the following:

  • If you would like the DiGI kit to be sent to an alternative location that is not your organization's mailing address on the Grant Portal, please notify Ben (ben@fpcc.ca) or James (james@fpcc.ca)

  • The address where you have the DiGI kit delivered should be open during the day and have someone working there who can sign and receive it

  • The DiGI kit weighs approximately 50 pounds/23 kilograms, so someone who is safely able to lift and carry this amount should also be present upon its arrival to your preferred address

This module contains videos that highlight the DiGI kit at many angles and vantages. The DiGI kit contains a front and back end, which you should consider before you set it up in a location or office space. It is a stationary machine, and it is not recommended to be moved often.

The module also consists of various images. In these sections, click on the "?" signs to see what each component does.
